Nutritional health is an important factor for remaining independent as we age. Meals on Wheels provides in-home delivery of hot meals five days a week. Our Café Programs address the need for socialization and nutritional education. With support for good nutrition and healthy living, many older adults in our area are able to live safely and independently in their own homes.

We do request that you make a reservation for each event so we know how much food to prepare. Please call Patty Strahan at (815) 941-1590 to make your reservation.

We ask that all participants over age 60 make a voluntary contribution. No one is turned away if you are unable to contribute. If you are under age 60, you may attend as a guest and are asked to pay the full cost of the meal.

If this is your first time attending our café then we will ask that you fill out a one time application form. You can click Here to download and print the form ahead of time before you arrive at the café. The one page application is required as part of our programs but rest assured, our staff at the café will be there to assist you in completing it if you need help or have questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our main office at (312) 207-5290.

Our Programs:

Home Delivered Meals

Our Home Delivered Meal program provides a hot meal delivered to your door. Volunteers deliver the meals Monday through Friday between 11 AM and 1 PM. You will receive a hot meal and the cold pack that includes your bread, milk, and fruit for the day. Additional meals and or weekend meals may also be available.

If you live in Grundy County and are in need of meals please call us at 815-941-1590.

Community Café’s

We travel to Coal City, Mazon, and Minooka, to provide a community café meal!

We also serve a congregate lunch at Saratoga Tower in Morris Monday through Friday at 11:30 AM. On Wednesday and Friday it is followed by Bingo (provided we have our minimum of 5 participants.) The cost of these meals depends on the day but is a suggested donation of $3.50 to $6 per person. We do ask that you RSVP to 815-941-1590 by 9 AM on Monday.

Our next Monthly party at Saratoga Towers is our Spring Fling for Easter. It will be held on Wednesday, April 17th. You don’t have to live at the Towers to participate, just let us know you are coming and we’ll make sure to keep the door open for ya! Hope to see you there!

Whistle Stop Café and R Place both provide a pre-determined senior meal twice a month at their respective locations for $6.

In addition, we also offer Great Plates meal coupons that are good for either R Place or Whistle Stop, and those are $6 each. They are usable at any time when you make your meal selection from their “Great Plates” menu and you use that coupon to pay for your meal.

Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Being a driver for our program could be the perfect fit! It could be one day a week, one day a month, or even one day a year whatever works for you. We could really use your help!

We also have volunteer opportunities with our community café program. If you are interested please give us a call at 815-941-1590.

Please come out and join us at one or all of our café opportunities and remember if you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity, we just may have what you are looking for!
